30. Cotton by Christopher Wilson. Didn't like it.

31. The Order of the Stick Volume 1 by Rich Burlew. Comic about Dungeons and Dragons that probably only appeals to a very limited percentage of the population, LOL.

32. 5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth by Matthew Inman. Collection of comics that originally appeared online on The Oatmeal. My favorite is How Everything Goes to Hell During a Zombie Apocalypse. Some of them are great.

33. Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. I have to read this book again to really begin to absorb it properly. It's not that any of the concepts are completely revolutionary, but it's a good collection of information.

27. Chicks Dig Time Lords edited by Lynne M. Thomas and Tara O'Shea. Wonderful collection of essays by women who love Doctor Who. I could really identify with so many of the writers, especially because I was a fan of Tom Baker's Who as a teenager.

28. The Meat Lover's Meatless Cookbook by Kim O'Donnel. Meh. Got this from the library because the title seemed to imply a sort of awesomeness, but in fact few of the recipes really interest me.

29. Room by Emma Donoghue. Wow. I don't even want to comment too much on this one because almost anything I could say would be spoilery right off the bat, but it was completely amazing and I think everyone should consider reading it (once they're aware that there's some stuff with trigger potential, that is. I'd be glad to provide more detail re: that if it would help anyone on the fence decide one way or the other.)

24. 12-Step Horror Stories edited by Rebecca Fransway. Interesting. I saw reference to it when I was reading a website about AA and was curious to see what it had to say.

25. Night, Mother by Marsha Norman. Something else I was reading reminded me that I'd enjoyed reading this play when I was younger, so I requested it from the library. I still like it and think it's a fascinating exploration of conversation between mother and daughter.

26. Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner. In general I consider myself to be a fan of Weiner's work, but I didn't like this book as much as some of her others. Good in Bed is my favorite.

20. Affinity by Sarah Waters. I didn't like this nearly as much as Fingersmith or Tipping the Velvet, or as much as I liked the movie. It was okay. I actually expected to love it because of the 'supernatural' element, but turns out not so much.

21. Food Lovers' Guide to Massachusetts by Patricia Harris and David Lyon. Okay, but glad I borrowed it from the library instead of buying it!

22. Stir-Fry: A Novel by Emma Donoghue. Very good. I wasn't a fan of her book of fairy-tale based short stories, but I loved Landing and this book.

23. Almost Perfect by Brian Katcher. Wonderful young adult book about a high school boy who falls for a girl who turns out to be transgendered.

17. Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs by (predictably) Dave Barry. Very funny, though very short. Bought it used because I thought my son would like it. He might. :-)

18. Keeping You a Secret by Julie Anne Peters. Young adult book about a girl falling in love with another girl (for the first time) in high school, and about coming out. Wonderful, sometimes painful.

19. Connection Parenting: Parenting Through Connection Instead of Coercion, Through Love Instead of Fear by Pam Leo. Excellent.

15. Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks by Ethan Gilsdorf. Non-fiction book about people who are into gaming, D&D, LARPing, etc. Interesting!

16. Aftermath, Inc.: Cleaning Up After CSI Goes Home by Gil Reavill. Informative. I found it interesting but I think a few chapters would have done it - not sure it really required so many.

13. Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron and Bret Witter. Super cute at the beginning, sort of repetitive in the middle, and sad at the end.

14. Briar Rose by Jane Yolen. I've read this book many times. I love it. I love the threaded story-telling and the re-imagining and the settings. It's all wonderful and beautiful even though the flashback story is so terribly sad.

11. Stolen Innocence: My Story of Growing Up in a Polygamous Sect, Becoming a Teenage Bride, and Breaking Free of Warren Jeffs by Elissa Wall and Lisa Pulitzer. I've been re-watching some of Big Love and got curious enough to go looking in the library for books about this topic.

12. Dying to Be Free: A Healing Guide for Families After a Suicide by Beverly Cobain and Jean Larch. I think I found a link to this title somewhere when I was reading about homophobia, but maybe not. Not an easy read emotionally.

9. The Ciao Bella Book of Gelato and Sorbetto: Bold, Fresh Flavors to Make at Home by F. W. Pearce and Danilo Zecchin. How to make gelato! Which is more complicated than I had imagined, because for some reason I didn't realize that it requires making a custard sort of stuff with egg yolks. The recipes sound yummy, though.

10. Murder at the War by Mary Monica Pulver. A murder-mystery set at Pennsic. The setting is the only reason I read it, because in general I'm not a big mystery fan. It was fine, but I don't have much to compare it to really.

7. Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise by Ruth Reichl. LOVED this book. Not only the stuff about food, but the stuff about Ms. Reichl creating disguises so that she could dine anonymously. Really, really interesting.

8. Feed by Mira Grant. Good but not great. Actually, I think it's probably great - it just wasn't what I wanted, somehow. It's very well written, great details, wonderful world-building. But I wasn't emotionally involved in the story.

5. Tender at the Bone by Ruth Reichl. Very nicely written, so really there's nothing negative to say. Memories about food? Yay!

6. On the Down Low - A Journey into the Lives of 'Straight' Black Men Who Sleep With Men by J. L. King. Interesting read.

3. Solace of the Road by Siobhan Dowd - Young adult book about a British girl who runs away from her foster home to try to find her mother. Good story.

4. The Butcher and the Vegetarian by Tara Austen Weaver. Interesting non-fiction about a woman raised as a vegetarian who decided to experiment with cooking and eating meat in an attempt to improve her health.

My son suggested that since I successfully read my attempted 50 books in 2010, I should try for 100 books in 2011. So here I go!

1. The Sweet In-Between by Sheri Reynolds. I'm pretty sure this is meant to be a young adult book about a gender-confused teenager and her life. It was well-written and interesting and I enjoyed it.

2. Zombie Movies: The Ultimate Guide by Glenn Kay and Stuart Gordon. This book is nicely written and definitely informative - I'm going to use it to add movies I want to see to my Netflix queue at the very least, yay!
