Skipped working out because I was soooo tired. Went to breakfast with a small crowd of people -- me, justhuman, dragonydreams, ladycat777, wolfshark, knotted_rose, denyce and inkandchocolate. We went to Panera, where I had another fruit and yogurt parfait thing, yum. Somebody mentioned the movie "Humpday," which I'll definitely have to see when I can.

After breakfast, we all went back to the hotel, and I did a little shopping in the dealer's room, where I bought t-shirts for Mr WG and the boy and some amber earrings and a moonstone pendant for myself. All of the jewelry was so gorgeous, I could have spent ten times as much money.

Went to a panel called "Cage Match: Magic vs. Science." Panelists were justhuman, dancetomato, kalichan and Martha Wells. Very interesting, with a fair amount of audience participation. One of the series I've actually read was mentioned, Piers Anthony's Incarnation of Immortality series. I sat with wolfshark, ladycat777, essene and margarks.

Want to make sure to mention since I didn't before that everyone who wasn't able to make it to WC this year was definitely missed. I was sad that herself_nyc was unable to get a flight when hers was cancelled at the last minute, and sad that people like timeofchange, ponders_life, yin_again and rubywisp weren't there.

I went out with a whole crowd to look for lunch (after a stop at Target to get A&D ointment for the new tattoo) but the place we'd wanted to go wasn't open and I ended up going to Panera again with justhuman, which was nice and soothing after being surrounded by so many (admittedly wonderful!) people all the time. Had a delicious strawberry poppy seed salad that dragonydreams had mentioned liking.

kalima lead an Inner Lives workshop that I'd signed up for, and it was really impressively helpful in getting into the character's head I'd been working with. I was so happy with it and the resulting scribbled writing.

Next was a Star Trek panel in which we watched episodes of TOS and basically laughed at them. It was very fun, and made even better by the fact that I went on a quest for coffee just before, along with my darlings dancetomato and ladycat777. Apparently, there's this whole world under Macy's, LOL! Starbucks coffee ftw! Macy's rules because they have coffee.

Hung out with super smoochies soft_princess and mireille719. One of favorite comments of the weekend was Mir's "Welcome to Minneapolis, City of Random Chairs."

The hotel is pretty much awesome. The elevators are fast, the staff is great, the beds are comfortable, etc. Okay, so the internet is a little bit slow, but it hardly matters because I'm getting to hang out with so many cool people.

This morning I got up at 7 am and went to work out at the fitness club. Yay? I rode a recumbent bike and used nautilus-like equipment and tried to use an elliptical sort of machine but it felt very awkward, and did some treadmill. It was good. ladycat777 and a couple of other con attendees joined me at various points (sorry for not knowing your names! I am bad with names!).

Went back to the room, took a shower, got dressed, and went to the opening ceremonies since it was the official start of the con. Grabbed a quick protein bar before the first panel, which was "Discuss! A Round Table Summit" and was about the ways in which so many of our fandoms are the same. Panelists were itsabigrock, essene, viciouswishes, redeem147, neadods and hermionesviolin. Interesting discussion about the hero's journey.

Other people to mention: sunnyd_lite, who is awesome. Totally adorable and very upbeat.

Somehow, I ended up going to the Mall of America with justhuman, ladycat777, tty63, gblvr and wolfshark. Had random lunch at the food court, which was considerably less than stellar, and did some shopping. Sharkie and Gblvr got makeovers at Bare Escentials (sp?) and we also paid a visit to the Apple store. Yay, Apple! Came back to the hotel the same way we went over, on the light rail, which is great.

Attended a panel about "Science for English Majors," which was really interesting and informative. justhuman and kellyhk were two of the panelists. Some pet peeves about fanfic were discussed, and some website suggestions for research purposes were given:

That was the last panel of the day, so a bunch of us including lumenara and her SO and essene went to dinner. Initially we were going to go to a steak house but it turned out the steak cost $94 and that just seemed insane. We ended up at a pub instead, where I had a salad. Came back, changed into fancy cocktail party clothes (ha) and got all tarted up. Tartastic! The cocktail party/dance was great fun even if the drinks were expensive and fairly weak. But it was great anyway and I got to spend more time hanging out with lots of assorted people.

Met up with catyah and sahiya.

Eventually went to the con suite to hang out for a while, but now it's 1:30 am and I am very sleepy, so I'm going to bed!
