Writercon, day 4.5
Aug. 4th, 2009 06:50 pmThis is my last public post about the con (unless I remember something important later!).
So I was hanging out with
mireille719 and
soft_princess in the con suite, and then we went up to their room to hang out with
denyce and
gblvr for a while, and then I had to leave to meet a local friend for dinner. I *so* wanted to go meet my friend, but I also *so* didn't want to leave their room, LOL. I forced myself to get up and walk across town, though (that makes it sound like a really long walk; it was only about six blocks).
Had an amazing thai dinner with my friend, and we chatted for so long after we'd finished eating that the valet came to the table to drop off my friend's car keys, LOL. Finally got out of there around 9:30 and she very kindly drove me back to the hotel, which was an adventure only slightly aided by her confused GPS because of all the road construction that was going on.
Went up to the con suite and hung out with people, yay! It was getting increasingly loud, and I'd been taking increasingly more and more antihistamines (I think I was reacting to something from dinner) so Mir and Sofy came up to me and JH's room to hang out. I took a shower and after that things started to get pretty blurry, LOL -- too much benadryl! There was cuddling and then I pretty much passed out. I feel terrible about it in retrospect because although I got to say goodbye to Mir and Sofy (and will be seeing them in 7 weeks for their wedding OMG YAY!) there were a whole bunch of people I'd meant to go back to the con suite to say goodbye to, and didn't get to.
justhuman got up with me at 4 am on Monday and drove me to the airport (OMG she rocks so hard). While I was waiting at the gate, a guy at the next gate over had what I think was a seizure -- it was very dramatic and people were very concerned, but airport staff was on top of things and had him up on his feet again within 15 minutes or so. I don't know what happened after that, but I was so sleepy and out of it at the time that it took on this weird, dream-like quality. My flight left on time and I dozed through most of it, which was uncomfortable because I had an aisle seat, and I was very, very happy to get off the plane and find Mr WG and the boy, who were waiting for me.
Now I am home and the con is over, woe. It was a fantastic time.
