Problem is, I don't know!

I mean, I could explain how I *am* writing behind the scenes, but it's original stories that will be available if you want to, you know, *pay* for them, which isn't really what the fandom community signs on for.

Or I could explain how my fandom interest is splintered now, and the people reading my fic are fewer and farther between, thus resulting in less feedback and therefore less excitement on my part, but that sounds like a complaint and I don't mean it as one.

Or I could shrug and go view more LOLcats or Fail Blog, which has been eating up more and more of my time.

This is less of a slump and more of a grand canyon.

Hey, lady, I'm not entirely relevant here, since I only read Jossverse and Dr Who/Torchwood, but if you're writing behind the scenes for MONEY, good for you.

You won't get a moment of complaint from me -- as with several other of the writers on my f-list, I wish you the absolute best. :)

Hon, I struggled for a long time to get my mojo back; it'll come.

Also, you, too? I'm not having readers in big numbers like I used to. I got spoiled.

And professional money!! Sweet! (I'm working on some original stuff, too.)

I certainly can't complain, because I've hardly been reading ANYTHING, even by people on my flist whose stuff I know I'd enjoy. I want... I don't know, something new and different and incredibly exciting, LOL. Where is it?

I dunno, hon.

I want something that will melt my socks and I've had to - twice - write it myself.

The agony. :o

I needed a break after the big rush of Angel stuff, but then I didn't really get it back until I found a fandom to *LOVE* again.

*cough*

How's that catching up on NCIS going? ;-P

I've seen disc 1 of S1, with disc 2 on the way. So far, I like it, but I'm not in love or anything. I really, really like the actress who plays Cait, and of course I love Abby!

Not here for the fic. That's just bonus. :)

Bad, naughty, uncooperative fic! *Spanks it* "And then, the oral sex!" Okay, clearly I am a bit nutty. Perhaps I can blame it on the antihistamines I took? They're making it hard to type properly, that's for sure.

I want cupcakes. I want strawberry cuppycakes! RIGHT NOW. Of course, it's almost 9 at night and I have no cupcakes. The closest ingredient I have is frozen strawberries. *Sigh*

Oooh, cupcakes. I want cupcakes. (Actually, I just want proper cooked food, which I have not had in about three weeks now, ever since Dad took over the cooking since I am supposed to stay off my feet as much as possible right now, and the amount of pain I'm in encourages me to do as I am told. [/whine])

So what is your dad's version of cooking, then?

I WANT CUPCAKES. I should have gone out to the store today and bought ingredients, then I could have made them. But I didn't. TOO LATE NOW. *HUGS*

My father can cook: spaghetti, chili (both of these are quite good), sloppy joes (with canned sauce), tacos (packaged seasoning at best--he also buys the preseasoned taco meat), scrambled eggs, and tuna salad. Everything else is frozen (pizza, etc.), or from the supermarket deli. He rarely remembers to make a vegetable. (I pleaded, and there are raw veggies now that turn up on my plate.)

In the past week, we've had: Chinese from the supermarket deli (twice), fried chicken from the supermarket deli, sloppy joes, tacos, frozen pizza, and Subway. These are all tasty, but after three weeks of eating like this, I'd like to go back to my very-little-red-meat, lots-of-veggies, whole-grains, style of cooking dinner. :)

Well, you know, when I think about it, I don't think my dad could even cook that much, so it seems like yours is doing pretty well other than the whole veggie-lacking thing. I totally understand you wishing for a return to your preferred foods, though!

*Hugs*

My dad's been on his own a lot, though (there was a lot of time when either my mom worked nights, or they were divorced, and I wasn't living with him), so he had to learn something. But it's all heavy on ground meat, fat, carbs, and convenience foods--which is great when he cooks once a week or so, but will definitely be a nice thing to get away from in a few weeks. :)

I think someone's put a spell on writers, or something.

Julia, 13 months and a total inability to write much of anything, except in my case I'm pretty sure the blame goes to beta blockers.

Beta blockers knock down muses? I'm ficless in fandom too. I'm interested in the beta blocker theory. Tell me more, please. Though mostly, the shows and the characters seem so far away and long ago now. I think that's probably what it's about for me. Moping in a mild, nostalgic way.

Probably/possibly just for me; I have a wide assortment of dysfluencies which are made better by ADHD meds and worse by beta blockers; there's a long and boring explanation which comes down to the way I used anxxiety as a made for coping with ADHD and language disorders.

Julia, they do, however, mess with alertness and responsiveness in everyone

I'll have to look into this more. I certainly could do with more alertness ;-) I get dizzy a lot, always feel off balance. I try to stay away from steep precipices.

>"...if you want to, you know, *pay* for them, which isn't really what the fandom community signs on for."

What comes to my mind is that it wasn't all that long ago that we regularly paid for zines to read, actually. Just the costs of copying, comb-binding and shipping -- any accidental profits donated to charity -- but still: it was the custom. Is that quite all gone from the culture?

In any case, surely we all applaud everyone who makes and takes her shot at professional publishing! This is a good thing!

As others posted back when it was timely: I came for the stories, but stayed because of you.

As far as the fiction writing goes, paid work should come first. I wish you wonderful, cooperative publishers with full pockets and a willingness to share.

(I don't know how I missed this at the time, but well, that's how it's been lately.)
