Problem is, I don't know!
I mean, I could explain how I *am* writing behind the scenes, but it's original stories that will be available if you want to, you know, *pay* for them, which isn't really what the fandom community signs on for.
Or I could explain how my fandom interest is splintered now, and the people reading my fic are fewer and farther between, thus resulting in less feedback and therefore less excitement on my part, but that sounds like a complaint and I don't mean it as one.
Or I could shrug and go view more LOLcats or Fail Blog, which has been eating up more and more of my time.
This is less of a slump and more of a grand canyon.

Date: 2008-09-23 11:51 pm (UTC)Also, you, too? I'm not having readers in big numbers like I used to. I got spoiled.
And professional money!! Sweet! (I'm working on some original stuff, too.)

The agony. :o

Date: 2008-09-24 01:34 am (UTC)I needed a break after the big rush of Angel stuff, but then I didn't really get it back until I found a fandom to *LOVE* again.
*cough*
How's that catching up on NCIS going? ;-P
GIP -- that's not just a special occasion on this show, it's a way of life smooching your PhD level goth lab guru

Date: 2008-09-24 12:45 am (UTC)I want cupcakes. I want strawberry cuppycakes! RIGHT NOW. Of course, it's almost 9 at night and I have no cupcakes. The closest ingredient I have is frozen strawberries. *Sigh*

Date: 2008-09-24 10:37 pm (UTC)I WANT CUPCAKES. I should have gone out to the store today and bought ingredients, then I could have made them. But I didn't. TOO LATE NOW. *HUGS*

Date: 2008-09-25 02:37 am (UTC)In the past week, we've had: Chinese from the supermarket deli (twice), fried chicken from the supermarket deli, sloppy joes, tacos, frozen pizza, and Subway. These are all tasty, but after three weeks of eating like this, I'd like to go back to my very-little-red-meat, lots-of-veggies, whole-grains, style of cooking dinner. :)

Date: 2008-09-24 03:55 pm (UTC)What comes to my mind is that it wasn't all that long ago that we regularly paid for zines to read, actually. Just the costs of copying, comb-binding and shipping -- any accidental profits donated to charity -- but still: it was the custom. Is that quite all gone from the culture?
In any case, surely we all applaud everyone who makes and takes her shot at professional publishing! This is a good thing!

Date: 2008-10-20 08:49 pm (UTC)As far as the fiction writing goes, paid work should come first. I wish you wonderful, cooperative publishers with full pockets and a willingness to share.
(I don't know how I missed this at the time, but well, that's how it's been lately.)
