So for some reason I got it into my head that I didn't have to cook the green beans before I put them in the casserole dish. I have no idea why I thought that. Last time I made this recipe I did it with fresh green beans, and I certainly cooked THEM before I mixed them with the soup mix etc. I know that frozen green beans are frozen before the beans are cooked. I guess I'm just dumb. :-P

Anyway, I'm baking the casserole now and hoping that eventually the beans will BAKE-cook, given enough time. I mean, when I cook potatoes, I often boil them before doing something else to them, but it's also possible to roast potatoes (without added water) and have them be cooked eventually. So far, 45 minutes and the beans are NOT cooked. They are no longer frozen, but it's hard to stick a fork through one and biting into it is a bit like biting into a briefly stir fried bean. *Puts casserole dish back into oven and crosses fingers*

oh dear...hope they eventually cook through for you. This is why I always use canned :)

I probably should have, LOL! Or at least fresh, which I'd done before. They did finally cook, though, after a very long time, LOL. I think it was about 65 minutes or something.

You could, possibly, microwave them for five minutes? Get them mostly cooked that way? *I make baked potatoes in the oven and it takes about an hour and a half - no clue how long it would take to cook raw green beans...*

*whispers to Tabaqui* 400 degree oven...only takes an hour for baked potatoes that way :)

Well, if you know how to cook, you're ahead of me. I think my relatives believe that the more kitchen stuff they buy me, the more likely it is that I would pick it up. Of course, yesterday, I started unconsciously smacking a spatula against my hand and my mom's boyfriend almost spit out his wine.
