I'm not doing any actual work. I'm accomplishing plenty, but no writing, which is what I'm MEANT to be doing while the boy is at school.

I made another batch of peanut butter cups -- this one came out much better than the last because I -- *gasp* -- actually followed the directions! Who'd have thought? I also simmered the frozen ham bone in a big pot of water for a couple of hours until the meat all fell off. I strained the liquid, put it back in the big soup pot, and stuck the pot in the fridge (so I can skim the fat off the top later.) I got rid of all the yucky bits and put the nice meat into a small bowl. Then I chopped a big onion and a bunch of carrots and put THOSE in a bowl in the fridge. Later on, a couple of hours before dinner, I'm going to throw the vegetables and either some lentils or split peas into the broth and cook it all for a while (and add the meat at the end since it's already falling apart.) Hopefully, it will taste good.

Pretty knitting/textile icons!

*Hugs and loves* I'm freezing! My fingers are like ice. I'm trying this thing of drinking lots of cold water (that's supposed to help with the rosacea for some reason) and it's turning me into an icicle, LOL! Plus I have to pee every half hour. :-P

Oooooh. Once I'm actually set up in a new apartment, with oven and all, I'm SO going to start baking like mad. Although I may want to get a new mixer before then... among far too many other things... *sigh*

Still. Recipe! Thanks!

Homemade peanut butter cups! YUM!

What did you do differently the first time? Is the recipe as you posted it the way it usually goes, or is it posted with the change you made?

I found a recipe for a chocolate soft-type cookie that has a dollop of a peanut-butter (+sugar type thing) in the middle. I may try those this weekend.

The last time I made them (the same day I posted the recipe) I tried adding LESS milk (soy milk) so that the chocolate would be less soft. But the chocolate was TOO thick, and the blobs of it I dropped onto the peanut layer sort of sunk down into the peanut goo, thus resulting in an almost-reverse-Reese's kind of thing. What you're SUPPOSED to do is spoon the chocolate on top and spread it around so that the peanut layer is sort of hidden under the chocolate layer. Which is what I did this time, and it results in a more even distribution of choc and pb when you take a bite. :-)

Ooh, if you try those cookies and they come out well, please share the recipe! They sound great.
