Snowball
by Shel Silverstein
I made myself a snowball
As perfect as could be.
I thought I'd keep it as a pet
And let it sleep with me.
I made it some pajamas
And a pillow for its head.
Then last night it ran away,
But first -- it wet the bed.

C'mon babies… grease your lips…
Put on your hats, and swing your hips.
Don't forget to bring your whips.
We're goin' to the Freakers Ball.
Blow your whistle…bang your gong --
Roll up somethin' to take along.
Feels so good… it must be wrong –
Freakin' at the Freakers Ball.
I loves me some Shel. He's missed, to be sure.

Date: 2006-02-22 05:41 am (UTC)I love Shel. I think one of the cool things about him was that he was a Playboy cartoonist before he made it big in kid's poetry.
Such a talented man was that Mr. Silverstein.
