I just turned on one of my Angel S5 DVDs and they are talking in French. (Must have pushed the wrong button.) This is very disturbing, not the least because everything's in French but "Spike."

I spent 20 minutes wrestling with a pair of pants (trousers) I bought at the Salvation Army store on Saturday. I decided, upon trying them on again at home, that the elastic at the waist was too tight. The pants are the right size -- I just can't stand when the elastic it too tight, it makes me feel ill. So I got the clever idea that I'd remove the elastic and replace it with a new piece. Only I cut open part of the pants to discover that the elastic is sewn in all the way around, not just free-floating inside a tube of fabric, which makes it a much more complicated process. I think I will just throw them away instead.

I need more clothes. If anyone wants to donate some in my direction, I'd be grateful. No, I'm not kidding. :-P I'm a large-extra large on top and a XL-1X on bottom -- probably a 16/18 in shirts and an 18-20 in pants/skirts.

Has anyone bought anything from Lane Bryant Catalog? This is the online business only, not the same as the Lane Bryant stores at malls. No, I don't know why there are two businesses with the same name. It's a mystery.

Snow. Much snow.

What size do you wear? I'm just in the process of weeding through the wardrobe - most of the stuff I donate is work-type wear, jackets, sweaters and the like. Most of it is size 14/ large, though.
And I'll be happy to ship it to you instead of dropping it off for the gypsies - anything you don't like you can pass onward...

Mm, I'm a bit larger than that! I should edit my post to mention sizes. Thank you for the offer though!

Oh, too bad! I've spent enough on most of this that I'd love to give it to someone who can really use it...

You should include sizes. I have worn everything from an 8 to 24. I have clothes from Ralph Lauren, August Max, and other designers that are just sitting in my closet, with me "hoping" to fit into one or the other one day. Spent too much money on clothes not to try! I am a pretty plain style person, and the pants, blouses and skirts are pretty timeless. Not trendy or dated.

I'll go through some stuff tomorrow. I think I probably have the wardrobe staples in every size (black pants, khaki pants, khaki skirt, etc) :-) so I'll email you with what I find and you can decide if you would want any of it.

I've bought stuff at lane bryant online and have been very unhappy with stuff. Some of it just fell apart in the wash in spite of following the directions on the tag. Out of three pants, four shirts and a swimsuit I only had one pair of pants and shirt one month later. The swimsuit was the worst. It fit right but the first time I wore it the stitching in the bra came apart.

The yoga pants I got are still in one piece and presentable.

Lane Bryant catalog stuff bites.

But in the mall store rocks. It's the only place I trust my bras from. If you catch one of their $25 off of a $75 coupon, it's not nearly so expensive.

Lane Bryant catalog merchandise sucks. Bad quality. Really bad quality.

The Limited bought the B&M (brick and mortar) Lane Bryant but did not want to get into the catalog business. So, that's why there are two different owners.

I ordered a couple of sweaters from LBCatalog a while ago. Clearance + email coupon = a good thing, as Martha would say. Was pretty much like shopping at any other online store.

Have you done a search for consignment/resale shops in your area? I've been able to find a ton of rather nice plus size clothes in those. I'm a size 18/20, so I know how hard it can be finding something that doesn't look like it should be hanging in your great-grandmother's closet.

How tall are you? I have a pair of Lane Bryant pants that are 18 and are now too big (yay!) for me. They are nice--bought them for an interview. They are much too long on me. If you are 5'3" or shorter, they will probably be too long.

I'm taking them to the dry cleaners tomorrow. If you think they would work for you, let me know and I'll contact you to mail them to you after they get cleaned.

If you don't want them, I'll probably see how much it will cost to get them altered.

I'm only a hair over 5'4", so I suspect they might be too long for me, too. Thank you enormously for the offer, though! Maybe you can get them altered, they sound nice. :-)

I don't know if the sale is still on, but last week I cleaned up at Sears because their Lands End stuff was on clearance and then discounted another 50%. (Rarely does that ever go on sale to begin with.) I got multiple pairs of khakis for work and some jeans for $7.50-$10 each and numerous shirts and sweaters, too. It might be work taking a peek if you like their stuff.

I've bought from Lane Bryant before and you have to be choosey about what you get from there. T-shirts, big shirts, and bras are fine, so are coats, but dresses are hit or miss as are sweaters and sheer fabric articles. Don't bother with their jeans.

On a side note, the catalog Lane Bryant people and the Roman's people are the same, so the same warnings apply.

I'd offer up some stuff I have to bring around to donate, but it's all 2X and 3X. :-/

It's very possible that some 2X stuff would fit me just fine, so feel free to send it this way if you're ever so inclined! ;-)

Beautiful Icon. :-)

It sounds like you're the same size as I am right now. I'll be seeing my sister next week, I'll check with her about handmedowns -- her taste and mine are somewhat different, so I don't always want everything she offers.

I'm afraid I don't have anything I'm likely to pass on myself at the moment, much of my (ahem) wardrobe is small or snug.

Alas, the clothes I'm ready to give away are a few sizes larger than you need.

And yes, I've bought from the catalogue. It's very hit or miss as to quality, but they're all right for teeshirts and underwear and such. I've also bought dozen coats from them.

It all used to be one company, but the stores belong to the Limited and the catalogue business to another company. The clothes in the stores are much nicer.

Pants are the worst trying on experience. Well, perhaps seconded only by swimsuits. The last time I went pants shopping, I spent something like an hour just trying them on and only ending up with two or three pairs.

I've bought some stuff from Lane Bryant mail order over the years, and my dearest RL buddy shops there all the time; quality is about the same as the stores, and the clothes are short-waisted, short armed, and short legged according to my body style. Also the shirts are a little skimpy across the chest for anyone who's a D cup or bigger.

I'm bigger than you so even my skinny clothes wouldn't fit, dern, because I definately have a few things which are quite nice and I can't replace them because I've taken good care of them but I'm BORED, I tell you, and want to replace them.

Coldwater Creek has both mail order and, in some places, walk-in stores with nice clothes in your size (which is also mine). It can be a bit pricier than Lane Bryant, but they have some nice outfits, especially for special events. I've had mixed success with Romans/Lane Bryant catalog items, too, particularly because it's hard to tell the quality of the fabric from the catalog. But one can always return them if they aren't okay . . .

Thanks! They do have some beautiful looking things -- probably out of my price range, but it's good to know where to look when I need something for a special occasion.

Hey, sweetie. I'll be moving and hence going through all my stuff before ConneXions, and I may have some stuff in those sizes for you. Can I bring stuff to the con? What kinds of styles do you prefer?

As for the Lane Bryant catalog ... DO NOT waste your money. It's very low-quality stuff, everyone I know who's ordered from them has been disappointed. The store, on the other hand, has some of the most comfortable and stylish jeans known to man and if you can find a coupon and hit them on sale, they're exorbitantly expensive.

I too may have some stuff for you...do you have any colors or styles you absolutely won't wear? Also do you need any shoes? Just send your address to my email jilmac5atyahoodotcom. I too would not trust anything from Lane Bryants/Roman's online. Instead I have been getting stuff from Jessica London www.jessicalondon.com(the large size version of Chadwick's) which is a catalog/online place to get decent fitting clothes at decent prices. I also shop at Coldwater Creek, Silhouettes, Lands End, and Eddie Bauer. I just love hitting them online to check out their clearance stuff.
