OMG SHOCK!

This morning, I went bathing suit shopping.

I know, I know! But it was GOOD.

(FWIW, the last time I went bathing suit shopping, which was at least three years ago, I was incredibly depressed for days afterward.)

This time, I went to ONE STORE. I found DOZENS of reasonable-looking suits in my size (even discounting all two-piece styles) and tried on at least 15. NONE of them looked awful on, at least 5 would have been reasonable options, and an hour after I walked into the store I walked out having BOUGHT A SUIT as well as a white cotton long-sleeved, hooded cover-up to help protect me from the evil sun.

I do think attitude helped. I have, since the last time I shopped for a suit, accepted the fact that no bathing suit is going to make me look like a size 4, and that the most important thing is that it fits and does something to hide my biggest flaw (post-baby belly -- the boy was a big baby and my skin is not, unfortunately, the elastic-y snap-back-into-shape sort). So I ended up with a swim dress style in this season's apparently popular shade of cafe-au-lait brown with small white flowers on it. It's not a SEXY bathing suit, but it's cute and looks, maybe not GREAT, but okay. And now the more I think about it the more I become convinced that it's too tight and uncomfortable (even though it's been hours since I tried it on, and I moved around and sat down in it and everything and it was okay). So now I will stop talking about it!
