I woke the boy up at 6:30 because he has to be at the bus stop at 8 and he's a poky eater in the morning -- ack! the bus is here! (runs. Comes back) -- he was pretty cheerful, ate some pancakes, got dressed. It took four tries before we could find long slacks that we both found acceptable. He doesn't mind wearing ones that are too short as long as they aren't so tight at the waist that he can breathe, but I want ones that look like they fit properly. He doesn't want a button at the waist (snaps are okay) because they slow him down when he's waited until the last possible second to run to the bathroom. We finally found a pair that fit and had a snap. He requested a grilled (soy) cheese sandwich for lunch. I pointed out that it would be cold and he said that was okay, he liked them cold. (And to be fair he often lets them sit on the plate long enough that they ARE cold before he begins to eat them.) We got a note yesterday that said to send the kids' snacks in small paper bags with their name and 'snack' written on them, so that there's no confusion as to what's meant for lunch and what's meant for snack. 1) It would have been nice to know that in advance, since I don't have a collection of small paper bags for this purpose and will have to buy some. 2) Micromanage much? I mean, does it really matter if they eat the carrot sticks from their lunch for snack and then the crackers at lunch time? But whatever. We had some leftover SpongeBob SquarePants party favor bags from his birthday party so I labelled one of those with his name and taped it shut at the top (it's plastic and less than ideal, but we have enough of them to get us through the week and I'll get paper bags over the weekend.)

I'm all sniffly and sneezy but I've taken an allergy pill and hopefully it will kick in soon. I must remember to eat breakfast at some point.

Today, I think, there will be cooking, tagging, and some attempt at solo writing. Yesterday was a complete wash writing-wise because of my wonderful visit with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse and because of the confusion associated with establishing a new schedule. Ooh, note to self, sort through the boy's clothes, too. Although I've heard that we're meant to have hot weather again next week, so maybe I'll wait and do it after that, since he'll want shorts if it's hot. Currently he's wearing long slacks and a short sleeved t-shirt, but at some point we'll have to make the switch over to long sleeved shirts as it gets colder.

Ooh yay, look, The Daily Show is on at 8 am! If I can watch it in the mornings, maybe we'll start shutting off the tv before 11 pm. Every night we go to bed, planning to watch "just the first few minutes" of Jon Stewart, then proceed to watch almost the whole show. Because... Jon Stewart!

Look! Icon! John! *Loves on him and Jane*

Turned out that in the rush not to miss the bus, I forgot to give the boy his little name tag thing (on a string, to wear around his neck the first week so that if he gets lost in the school he can easily be identified and directed to his proper place.) Fortunately, the school is five minutes away and I had to drop off my Cori form anyway (form so that they can do a background check on you if you want to volunteer at the school) so I popped on over, gave him the tag, then went and did a small collection of errands at the drug store. Photocopied some rebate forms I have to mail off, ordered some photo reprints, used a 50% off store brand coupon on some things I either wanted to buy but couldn't justify paying full cost for or things that we need anyway. Got $24 worth of stuff -- antiperspirant, facial cleanser, acid reflux meds -- for $12. Also, got paper bags for the boy's snacks.

It's 9:30 in the morning and I don't know what to do with myself, LOL. I have a zillion writing projects to work on, and yet somehow I am watching Mad TV.

Hm.

Now it's quarter of 12. I've washed the windowsills in the living room and dining room and recaulked the seam between the windowsills and the windows. Once the caulk dries (probably tomorrow) I'm going to repaint the sills, because even washed they still look kind of grubby. While doing this, I watched the last two episodes of Jeremiah S1 in preparation for getting S2 - I found someone who was willing to sell it to me for a very reasonable price, yay! Netflix also got the first two discs of S1 Veronica Mars back, so I should probably get discs 3 and 4 tomorrow.

I wanted to bake bread but turns out our little jar of yeast is almost empty. Must buy yeast.
