There's a rat on my shoulder. She's all warm and snuffly.

I went to the post office and mailed off holiday packages. Remind me to fill out the customs forms in advance next time -- whew! To those of you who will receive packages from me in the next few weeks, the things inside that needed to be gift-wrapped are gift-wrapped, so you can open the mailing packages without fear. There are small gifts for the children of those who have children, but no gifts for husbands/SOs because I don't know them well enough to buy gifts for them. For that matter, the children might not like the things I got either; feel free to pass the gifts on to others --

-- without guilt if that's the case. (Oh, and flaming_muse, I have a small gift for you but didn't mail it because I'm hoping I might see you in the next 6 weeks or so, but I can always mail it later if I need to!)

Ack! Now she's cleaning my ear. I hope. Because the alternative is that she's eating my ear.

Also went to the grocery store and bought ingredients for the desserts for my mom's party on Sunday. I won't be doing the baking until Saturday and we'll go to the store again on Saturday morning, so I'll be able to get anything I've forgotten. The current plan is:

Chocolate mousse sheet cake for 70 people (no decisions made about how to decorate it yet)
Almond Raspberry Meringue Bars
Mini cheesecakes with fruit topping
M&M cookies (there'll be 15 kids there, kids like cookies)
Caramel Apple Cake
