ACK.

Um, 8:20 pm is TOO LATE to be going door to door ringing people's doorbells, THEN knocking loudly when the doorbell ringing didn't get an immediate response, ESPECIALLY when the house in question's porch light is turned out.

That's lovely that you're offering a free cleaning of a room's worth of carpeting or a piece of furniture, but 1) I'm sure there's a catch, like that I have to pay for one service to get the other one for free, and 2) it's currently 7 degrees with the wind chill factor, our entire street is a giant ice slick that cars have been struggling on all day. GO HOME. Or at least go somewhere warm. Please. And if you need the job that badly, I am really sorry, and I wish you could have come in for a cup of hot tea.

But seriously. NO SALESPEOPLE RINGING MY DOORBELL AFTER 8 PM. NOT COOL.

GRRRR!!! I would totally kill anyone who would ring my doorbell after 8 o'clock and all the lights are out.

The nerve!

After 8 pm is too late. Honestly, I think after 6 pm is too late, although I wouldn't get frustrated until later than that.

I think that's actually illegal here in the UK!
I know I delivered telephone directories once upon a time and part of the instructions was not to deliver after 7 or 8 pm. Basically no unsolicited calls.
Very not cool!

I don't know if there are laws about it here. There probably are. Definitely not cool either way, though.

Argh! If my lights are out, stay away, man.

When I lived in the condo complex I actually had a "No Soliciting" sign on my front door.

[identity profile] wesleysgirl.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I should consider the No Soliciting sign, seriously.

So much fellow-feeling here. I recently got interrupted three times in one evening - one persistent charity collector (good cause, I couldn't afford the subscription he wanted me to take out at once); one very persistent power company rep trying to get my to switch; and one unbelievably persistent man doing a lengthy survey who wanted to come in and plug in his laptop to take down my answers. After I'd already told him I live alone. Umm, no. Not even if I hadn't been infuriated by the two previous visits. I do sympathise with the lousiness of the job, but good grief.

Yeah, seriously. I can't imagine a man thinking it'd be okay to come into a woman's home like that. Being pushy often gets people really far, though, which I'm sure is how they get pushier and pushier!

seriously?

People sometimes need an asskicking, I'm just saying.

So, bugging you once more- I have those S1 & S7 dvds all packaged up and lonely.

Won't you please give them a home??

I don't know what DVDs you're talking about! I'll totally admit that I have the worst memory in the world, though, so don't take it personally, but... huh?

:-)

Wasn't I going to send you S1 and S7 of SG1? Wasn't the Boy getting into it? I have them both and want to just send them on to someone who might actually enjoy instead of seeth in impotent rage.

As if my rage had any other form.

I think it must have been someone not-me, since the boy is only 7 and not really interested in much that's not a cartoon. On the other hand, I'd totally watch them if you sent them to me, LOL. But it must have been someone else you were thinking of.

Well, hell's bells

I think my brain has fallen out of my ears.

I better go back and check all my old emails. Sorry for the bother, dear.

No worries! I hope you can sort out who it was that wanted them. :-)

Wow. I'd probably call their local office and complain. Not specifically about that guy, but about the company sending people out that late and in such bad weather. I wouldn't have let them in either, and we usually go to bed around midnight.

Besides, who wants to get their carpet cleaned at 8 pm? The noise isn't very conducive to a relaxing evening.

I wish I'd kept the flyer the girl was trying to give me so that I could remember who the heck the company was!!!
