Ack!

I couldn't have poison ivy on my BREAST, could I?

At first I thought it was a bug bite, but it's been days and it isn't just one little pink welt, it's a little AREA of pink welts. And SO ITCHY. So itchy I couldn't sleep last night. Hydrocortisone cream doesn't seem to help much. I've tried Calamine lotion now (which expired in Feb of 08, but I figure it's still must work a LITTLE bit) and am crossing my fingers. And keeping them crossed, so I won't keep scratching.

OMG SO ITCHY.

Only how could I possibly have gotten poison ivy on my breast and not anywhere else? Seems impossible.

One touch is all it takes... But it could be contact dermatitis as well. Take any anti-histamines to bring the reaction down?

[identity profile] wesleysgirl.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
In retrospect I do think it's bug bites. Itchy! I did take a good solid dose of antihistamines last night, though, and slept, so thank you!

Glad you got some sleep.

Thank you. *Hugs*

Is it under your breast, hon? If so it's very likely to be candida, especially in the summer. If not, could a small insect have got into your bra? What does it look like exactly?

[identity profile] wesleysgirl.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's on the upper side of my breast, sort of underneath where the edge of the bra goes. It's a cluster of about five little welts. It's dry, not oozy or anything. Maybe it WAS just a bug bite (or a few bug bites) and the edge of my bra rubbing it has irritated it a lot? Or maybe it was a bug bite that I've had a more dramatic reaction to?

OK, what have you and Mr. WG been up to? More appropriately, WHERE?

[identity profile] wesleysgirl.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! I swear, we have not been having sex in big piles of poison ivy! I'm pretty sure it's bug bites. Owwww. *Tries not to scratch*

Poison ivy, as a rule, will leave small - or not so small - blisters that are filled with a clear fluid. Try Ivarest, or Aveeno anti-itch that has calamine in it - works very well.

If it doesn't go away in a week, then...um. See your doc, because an itchy 'it looks like a bug bite' spot could be something else.

[identity profile] wesleysgirl.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is bug bites, because I have a couple of others in totally different places and they are equally itchy, just not so bad because there isn't a cluster of them and they aren't in such a sensitive spot. Thanks!

Bug bites on the breast suck. Not only more sensitive, but you can't *scratch in public*. Ack!

The Aveeno stuff really is excellent for poison ivy - just in case. But for bug bites, i like Gold Bond anti-itch cream. It's a little menthol-y, so it stings a little and makes the itch go right away. Yay!

Oh, thanks for the rec! They're much smaller and less itchy now, so the issue seems to be resolving itself. Thank goodness. :-)

If you have oatmeal in the house, make a very little bit and put some on to soothe. You can also fry a small bit of garlic in some oil = making garlic oil = and mix that in with the bit of oatmeal and it'll create something soothing as well as something to draw out the irritant toxins.

But I stress -a very TINY- bit of garlic oil. Otherwise you're liable to burn yourself. Garlic is hella strong.

Thank you! I'm going to try the oatmeal later today (when we get back from the library, because somehow the thought of going to the library with oatmeal on my breast, even if no one would know, weirds me out. LOL!)

Excellent advice above. I would offer more, but I can't think of any. It would probably help if you posted a picture of it. *looks shifty*

[identity profile] wesleysgirl.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Heeeeee! OMG, I love you so much, seriously. I will wait and post a picture of my breast when it is not itchy and weird! :-P

I hope you feel better soon! *refreshes liek woah*

My money's on bug bite

[identity profile] wesleysgirl.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I think you're right. Turns out I have another one on one shoulder and one on my ASS -- they're itchy, too, though not in such an intense way. Calamine seems to be helping some. If I could just stop ITCHING they might have a chance to get better.

[identity profile] janedavitt.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, ow, ow, ow. Whatever it is, huge sympathy and hugs.

It's better this morning! Thank goodness. Whew. *Hugs*

yikes! Benadryl?

[identity profile] wesleysgirl.livejournal.com 2008-08-15 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, Benadryl is good! They're a lot less itchy now, though, so whatever it is seems to be resolving. Yay! *hugs*
