A handy hint for those on a budget: Amazon's Price Guarantee

If you do a fair amount of your holiday or other shopping on Amazon.com, did you know that Amazon offers a Post-Order Price Guarantee?

For 30 days after you place an order, if the price of anything you ordered drops, you can request a refund of the difference between what you paid and what the current price is.

This morning, the price of the "big present" toy we ordered for the boy, the Jakks EyeClops Bionic Eye, dropped to $29.99. (This is the lowest price I've seen for it anywhere, btw.) When I ordered it a couple of weeks ago, it was $39.99. So I emailed Amazon's customer service via the button on their Help Page and requested a refund of the $10 difference. I usually receive confirmation that my requested refund has been approved within a day at most, and the money gets credited back to my credit card.

It's very easy. The hardest thing about it is remembering to check the prices of things you've already ordered on a fairly regular basis, but I find that it takes me a couple of minutes a day at most, and it's been worth the minimal effort for what's essentially free money. But they don't go to much effort to advertise the guarantee, obviously, so I figured there had to be at least a few people who didn't know about it!

If you have the time to sort of stalk the prices, it's totally worth it. (I'm sure it depends a bit on what you buy, but it works for me!)

I just did that recently when their Lego Advent Calendar went on sale for $20 when I paid $25. Yay for refunds!

LOL! Yup, I got that same refund on that exact same item. :-)
