I just saw this ad on tv. It says "This is a public announcement" at the beginning, which, as it's a lie, and just a commercial like any other, ought to tune people out for the rest of it, although I'm sure it doesn't. Then it talks a bunch about people buying houses at auction for $1000, blah blah, and the fact that I don't really remember what it says despite having seen it dozens of time is the second sign that it's a shitty commercial. But then -- get this -- it says "People with the last names beginning with A-M call today! The rest of you call tomorrow!"

They play the ad EVERY DAY.

Do you think they ask for confirmation of your last name when you call?

I hate those things. They're like those phone calls that say, "This is not a sales call. This is in regards to an important business matter. Please contact us immediately (so we can scam you and rip you off)" Uh, yeah. Sure. Right.
