They paved paradise

This isn't the first time this has happened, so I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm still stunned and horrified. Fic that I loved, that I re-read multiple times when I was feeling low and really needed it, has been removed from the web because of interpersonal problems between fandom people.

I know the fic belongs to the writer. I do.

But that doesn't make me feel any less horrible when I discover something that I love is gone and I can never get it back. That doesn't happen with published fic, after all. There might be limited editions, you might have to pay a lot of money for a battered copy, but you can almost always GET a copy.

When the fic gets taken down, it's gone forever.

I'm sure some people will roll their eyes reading this, thinking that I'm being overly dramatic, that it's "just" fic.

But those stories were more than that to me. I'm genuinely devastated.

Eta - Yes, it's my own fault for not saving them. That just makes it suck more.

I'm not familiar with the first one, but Dancing About Architexture is here:

Ooooh. Thanks. I was hoping that it had been updated too, but it's still at the same place I left it years ago.

I know exactly what's going on and why, et cetera, et cetera, but I still want to read it.

Thanks.

Are you sure you don't know the first one???

Please don't take your stuff down.

Metaforgirl has taken her fic down too. Hopefully it's just temporary. :crosses fingers and toes:

Not more SGA writers!

*is sad*

I only read Metaforgirl's BTSV/ATS fics. Again, she says it's temporary.

You and me both. (I was her beta-reader on that. ;-) )

Then I definitely know you know what I know about this story. Well, I'm 95% certain where it was going, and you're probably 99.99% certain where it was going.

You're another on my list who is *not allowed* to take down your site or any of your fics. NEVER EVER EVER!!! Even after you get thee to a Nunnery. Not even then.

Are you sure you don't know "Nothing to Grasp?"

I do - see your e-mail. :)

*is secretive* ;-)

But possibly, possibly not. *g* Keeping in mind my main predilictions for what I won't read, let alone beta-read.

Mmmmmmm. I'm not sure what you won't read. You seem to be very upbeat so I'm assuming you don't care for stories that leave you gasping in sorrow.

I don't like those either. Unless they're really well written or they catch me in a certain moment (see email I sent)

But...

Oh my goodness. I'm thinking of another author's story now that was so melodramatic, it should have been made into a telenovella. Oh my god. Xander died at the end, and both Angel and Spike had been in love with him, and Angel sang him an Irish lullaby, and then both Spike and Angel wept blood tears. It was such a soap opera ending, I got hysterical with laughter. I nearly busted a gut laughing.

I apologize here to anyone whose feelings I just hurt. ((hugs))
