So, if you were microwaving a jar of peanut butter (that had been refrigerated and was all hard) for 16 seconds to soften it up enough to spread, and you failed to notice a tiny bit of foil on the lip of the jar, and at around 14 seconds the microwave did one of those arcing things to the foil, would you assume the microwave was probably still okay despite the incident?

It still turns on. There was a tiny burned spot on the lip of the pb jar, but no burn marks of any kind on the inside of the microwave.

Yep, it's ok. Speaking as one who has done her share of microwave murder :)

Whew! Thanks. I don't like the thought of lightning storms inside my microwave, so I try to be careful.
