Always more books...

72. Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Beautifully written and really interesting and educational.

73. The Nice Girl Syndrome: Stop Being Manipulated and Abused - and Start Standing Up for Yourself by Beverly Engel. A friend was talking about this book and I got curious. It's interesting.

74. A Matter of Fat by Sherry Ashworth. Hooray for secondhand books from across the sea courtesy of Amazon's Marketplace. I liked this one just as much as the other books of Ashworth's I've read, and have now ordered a few more that will hopefully turn up in the mailbox next week.

75. Room by Emma Donoghue. I liked this so much that I had to buy myself a copy after reading the library's, and then because I'd bought it I had to read it again. It's shockingly good. Also triggery, so if you have triggers you'd want to check out a review to see if it's something you'd be better off avoiding.

I'm so glad you read Room. I thought it was brilliant. Essene and I read it on Kindle, and then bought the hardcover, we liked it so much.

See, I was really meh on Room. I think it's a good book, don't get me wrong. But something about it annoyed me. I found it really hard to explain my feelings at the end (and still do), because I started out loving it but it just didn't ... I don't know. It didn't last I guess. But I would still recommend it to people, because I think it's so different than other books that have come before.

I think the fact that it never changed POV was one of the things I liked best about it, because it was so amazing in that one way even if I hadn't liked the rest of it (which I did). I don't think it was perfect, but I loved it.

Yes.

I agree; the second half was less gripping, but I still really loved the book.

I'm curious about "The Nice Girl Syndrome" -- the subtitle is something I've said to other women throughout my adult years (nicely, of course). I actually got into a fight with a friend once because I told her she needed to put herself first and she missed the point, insisting that being selfish is not a good thing. *sigh*
