I have stoneware dishes with a broad purple rim and then thin black piping separating the purple from the cream middle. They don't make them anymore, but half of the dishes I had were broken by my ex so I'll have to replaces with something new soon. So sad.
I always forget some option! I consider myself a cat person because I *have* cats and because I'm allergic to most dogs, but in reality I love pretty much all animals.
In fact, I have a cat, two dogs, and am hoping to/planning on getting a goat and a flock of banties this year.
Also, although I love real sugar Coca Cola, I can only have it as an emergency cure for disasterously low blood sugar; I am a super-taster for artificial sweeteners, and don't drink diet pop at all.
Julia, I would care more about dishes if I ever had a clean table to put them on
i have plain white dishes from ikea, and i looooove them. they're really simple but feel really solid and they remind me of diner dishes. (my drinking glasses are blue, so place settings aren't overwhelmingly white and boring.)
i'm not a fan of carbonation in general, but i love me some dr brown's cream soda. and the occasional ginger ale.
We've had both cats and dogs, and also a bird I loved to pieces. I don't actually dislike animals but I've gotten to the point where I don't want to have any because I don't want the responsibility of having a pet. So if we want to go out of town on the spur of the moment, we can.
I felt like I was betraying my cat by saying I'm a dog person, but then I remembered that the reason the cat's such a good fit is because he acts like a dog.
I'm allergic to both cats and dogs, mildly. The shots helped my cat allergy, and after 10 years, I've sort of gotten used to my son's cat. I don't let him sleep in my bedroom, which helps. As does bathing him regularly.
I don't think I'd use a bread machine enough to make it work the storage.
Last fall, I picked out my first set of dishes to my taste (the Arabella pattern Mikasa I had when married for 20 years was a compromise). I got Pillivuyt Coupe, plain white dishes with a graceful shape.
We have a chartreuse dinging room with a black and white theme. Our dishes are black and white toile and they look great in the dining room. I also have my grandmother's everyday dinner ware, the Friendly Village. See?
You can't make me choose: I am equally a dog and a cat person, though I have a slight preference to being a cat owner, because it's easier.
My everyday dishes are random bits that I pick up at Dollar Tree, that way no tragedy if they break and I can have colors to match the season or my mood. Today's breakfast was lime green polka dot mug and lime green swirled plate for my muffin.
I use my breadmaker a few times/year. Last time it was an amazing dill bread that used cottage cheese and sour cream. Need to make it again and dip in olive oil mixed with Lipton's onion soup mix.
Love cats and dogs equally but just now I have five indoor cats and one feral outdoor girl who I'm proud and excited to say I was just able to capture last month and get spayed. I have three kittens by her and they are the joy of my life/bane of my existence. Broken glass and chewed up papers. Litter strewn about.
My dishes are very heavy stoneware, tricolor. garnet, lavender/grey and white. I've dropped a couple of pieces, and still no breakage. whoot.
I'll be starting the process to adopt a kitty (okay, two!) next weekend.
also, soda? I'm a coke AND pepsi person, but STRICTLY coke or pepsi. No RC or shasta or sam's choice or chek. And I don't go in for the other flavored ones either. just..coke or pepsi please. :)
When I drink soda, I prefer Diet Coke. Back when I was trying to lose weight I got in the habit of not keeping soda at home, though. I mainly drink flavored carbonated water at home (raspberry blackberry).
I think it is quite interesting that in the poll results, for the first question, one of the answers has 0 respondents but still shows a red-line response. Hmmm.
I have boring Corelle in 3 patterns that have been acquired over 30 years. If I had spare money I would order the stoneware fiesta pattern from La Tienda. We got them for my daughter (she lived in Spain for a while and fell in love with it) over a few Christmases and Birthdays. Terribly expensive and not microwave safe at all, but gorgeous.
Also, I don't own and wouldn't use a bread machine but only because I like to knead the dough myself and I always make more loaves than the machine could handle. I used to bake 2 loaves of sourdough a day, but health restrictions have caused me to only bake for special occasions. Sigh.
Would it be possible to get that recipe for the dill bread? Sounds scrumptious! If yes, send to: m.ringe@insightbb.com or just post it here. I am mendenbar01 on LJ.
I don't really care about dishware...most of my kitchen stuff is mismatched hand-me downs from family. But there are three plates and two bowls that I picked up at target a couple of years ago that I love. The blue just sings to me. You can get a peek at the plate here in this pic... http://www.flickr.com/photos/tezzkatt/5226517960/in/set-72157625293608122/
I'm mostly a cat person but I do love dogs and wish I lived in a place that we could have one. I really love all animals though.
Sometimes I think a breadmachine would be awesome in the summer when I want fresh bread but don't want to heat up the oven. That would rock. I probably wouldn't use it much in the winter though.
I said coke but I rarely drink it, mostly I drink water and tea :)
I know it's probably geeky and/or tacky, but I really want to replace the crap dishes I have (which were ridiculously expensive) with good old Corningware.
My everyday stuff is thick clear glassware, hand-made in Italy, square-shaped with rounded corners. I bought it (I believe) in 1975 and walked home about a mile (!!!) carrying the 40 piece service for 8. The bowls have two handles and the cups/saucers are just perfect for tea. What I think is most striking is that I can place the dinner plates on top of my choice of chargers (red, silver or gold) and have that be the focal point (rather than merely a decorative rim).
Since I moved, there's no room in the shared kitchen for my bread machine, so it's in my storage locker. ::pouts::
Coke ... though I'm trying not to drink it except on special occasions. So I brew up a pot of different herbal tea each day and chill it.
I have some very plain, blue stripe on white stoneware, that I picked up for 1.00 per item that I use everyday because I was tearing through my china which is hard--almost impossible--to replace. I love my chine pattern but think if I were buying a new set I would chose something simpler.
I love my bread machine, but haven't used it in about two years because I'm not supposed to eat bread. (grumble, grumble, grumble)
I'm a critter person. I love 'em all. However if I were to have a critter I'd like it to be a dog, because I am in need of a critter that sits when I say sit.
I mostly drink water, filtered water. Water filtered by my Brita filter. I sometimes squeeze my own grapefruit juice in the morning, and on very, very rare occasions drink anything other.
I have a dog, and he makes me nuts. But the kids like him, so he stays. (Much like my spouse, some days.)
these (http://www.microwavecookingforone.com/Pfaltzgraff/PfaltzgraffJuniper.html) are my dishes. Every year I take some Christmas money and hit Replacements.com for serving pieces or to replace stuff that cracked. I've had this pattern for...fifteen years, I think. Still not tired of it.
