This is my last public post about the con (unless I remember something important later!).

So I was hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] mireille719 and [livejournal.com profile] soft_princess in the con suite, and then we went up to their room to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] denyce and [livejournal.com profile] gblvr for a while, and then I had to leave to meet a local friend for dinner. I *so* wanted to go meet my friend, but I also *so* didn't want to leave their room, LOL. I forced myself to get up and walk across town, though (that makes it sound like a really long walk; it was only about six blocks).

Had an amazing thai dinner with my friend, and we chatted for so long after we'd finished eating that the valet came to the table to drop off my friend's car keys, LOL. Finally got out of there around 9:30 and she very kindly drove me back to the hotel, which was an adventure only slightly aided by her confused GPS because of all the road construction that was going on.

Went up to the con suite and hung out with people, yay! It was getting increasingly loud, and I'd been taking increasingly more and more antihistamines (I think I was reacting to something from dinner) so Mir and Sofy came up to me and JH's room to hang out. I took a shower and after that things started to get pretty blurry, LOL -- too much benadryl! There was cuddling and then I pretty much passed out. I feel terrible about it in retrospect because although I got to say goodbye to Mir and Sofy (and will be seeing them in 7 weeks for their wedding OMG YAY!) there were a whole bunch of people I'd meant to go back to the con suite to say goodbye to, and didn't get to.

[livejournal.com profile] justhuman got up with me at 4 am on Monday and drove me to the airport (OMG she rocks so hard). While I was waiting at the gate, a guy at the next gate over had what I think was a seizure -- it was very dramatic and people were very concerned, but airport staff was on top of things and had him up on his feet again within 15 minutes or so. I don't know what happened after that, but I was so sleepy and out of it at the time that it took on this weird, dream-like quality. My flight left on time and I dozed through most of it, which was uncomfortable because I had an aisle seat, and I was very, very happy to get off the plane and find Mr WG and the boy, who were waiting for me.

Now I am home and the con is over, woe. It was a fantastic time.

Skipped working out because I was soooo tired. Went to breakfast with a small crowd of people -- me, [livejournal.com profile] justhuman, [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams, [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777, [livejournal.com profile] wolfshark, [livejournal.com profile] knotted_rose, [livejournal.com profile] denyce and [livejournal.com profile] inkandchocolate. We went to Panera, where I had another fruit and yogurt parfait thing, yum. Somebody mentioned the movie "Humpday," which I'll definitely have to see when I can.

After breakfast, we all went back to the hotel, and I did a little shopping in the dealer's room, where I bought t-shirts for Mr WG and the boy and some amber earrings and a moonstone pendant for myself. All of the jewelry was so gorgeous, I could have spent ten times as much money.

Went to a panel called "Cage Match: Magic vs. Science." Panelists were [livejournal.com profile] justhuman, [livejournal.com profile] dancetomato, [livejournal.com profile] kalichan and Martha Wells. Very interesting, with a fair amount of audience participation. One of the series I've actually read was mentioned, Piers Anthony's Incarnation of Immortality series. I sat with [livejournal.com profile] wolfshark, [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777, [livejournal.com profile] essene and [livejournal.com profile] margarks.

Want to make sure to mention since I didn't before that everyone who wasn't able to make it to WC this year was definitely missed. I was sad that [livejournal.com profile] herself_nyc was unable to get a flight when hers was cancelled at the last minute, and sad that people like [livejournal.com profile] timeofchange, [livejournal.com profile] ponders_life, [livejournal.com profile] yin_again and [livejournal.com profile] rubywisp weren't there.

I went out with a whole crowd to look for lunch (after a stop at Target to get A&D ointment for the new tattoo) but the place we'd wanted to go wasn't open and I ended up going to Panera again with [livejournal.com profile] justhuman, which was nice and soothing after being surrounded by so many (admittedly wonderful!) people all the time. Had a delicious strawberry poppy seed salad that [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams had mentioned liking.

[livejournal.com profile] kalima lead an Inner Lives workshop that I'd signed up for, and it was really impressively helpful in getting into the character's head I'd been working with. I was so happy with it and the resulting scribbled writing.

Next was a Star Trek panel in which we watched episodes of TOS and basically laughed at them. It was very fun, and made even better by the fact that I went on a quest for coffee just before, along with my darlings [livejournal.com profile] dancetomato and [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777. Apparently, there's this whole world under Macy's, LOL! Starbucks coffee ftw! Macy's rules because they have coffee.

Hung out with super smoochies [livejournal.com profile] soft_princess and [livejournal.com profile] mireille719. One of favorite comments of the weekend was Mir's "Welcome to Minneapolis, City of Random Chairs."

More later!

The hotel is pretty much awesome. The elevators are fast, the staff is great, the beds are comfortable, etc. Okay, so the internet is a little bit slow, but it hardly matters because I'm getting to hang out with so many cool people.

This morning I got up at 7 am and went to work out at the fitness club. Yay? I rode a recumbent bike and used nautilus-like equipment and tried to use an elliptical sort of machine but it felt very awkward, and did some treadmill. It was good. [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777 and a couple of other con attendees joined me at various points (sorry for not knowing your names! I am bad with names!).

Went back to the room, took a shower, got dressed, and went to the opening ceremonies since it was the official start of the con. Grabbed a quick protein bar before the first panel, which was "Discuss! A Round Table Summit" and was about the ways in which so many of our fandoms are the same. Panelists were [livejournal.com profile] itsabigrock, [livejournal.com profile] essene, [livejournal.com profile] viciouswishes, [livejournal.com profile] redeem147, [livejournal.com profile] neadods and [livejournal.com profile] hermionesviolin. Interesting discussion about the hero's journey.

Other people to mention: [livejournal.com profile] sunnyd_lite, who is awesome. Totally adorable and very upbeat.

Somehow, I ended up going to the Mall of America with [livejournal.com profile] justhuman, [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777, [livejournal.com profile] tty63, [livejournal.com profile] gblvr and [livejournal.com profile] wolfshark. Had random lunch at the food court, which was considerably less than stellar, and did some shopping. Sharkie and Gblvr got makeovers at Bare Escentials (sp?) and we also paid a visit to the Apple store. Yay, Apple! Came back to the hotel the same way we went over, on the light rail, which is great.

Attended a panel about "Science for English Majors," which was really interesting and informative. [livejournal.com profile] justhuman and [livejournal.com profile] kellyhk were two of the panelists. Some pet peeves about fanfic were discussed, and some website suggestions for research purposes were given:
www.politedissent.com
www.netautopsy.org
Also the term "medical zebras" was mentioned.

That was the last panel of the day, so a bunch of us including [livejournal.com profile] lumenara and her SO and [livejournal.com profile] essene went to dinner. Initially we were going to go to a steak house but it turned out the steak cost $94 and that just seemed insane. We ended up at a pub instead, where I had a salad. Came back, changed into fancy cocktail party clothes (ha) and got all tarted up. Tartastic! The cocktail party/dance was great fun even if the drinks were expensive and fairly weak. But it was great anyway and I got to spend more time hanging out with lots of assorted people.

Met up with [livejournal.com profile] catyah and [livejournal.com profile] sahiya.

Eventually went to the con suite to hang out for a while, but now it's 1:30 am and I am very sleepy, so I'm going to bed!
