[ profile] kassrachel made a fantastic, fun Lost vid to Jonathan Coulton's song "Skullcrusher Mountain" that everyone should see. It's so great! You can see the post about it here.

Also, [ profile] flummery's Doctor Who vid Handlebars is one of the best vids I've ever seen -- definitely in my top ten. It's brilliantly done and the song is just PERFECT. I'm quite useless in describing what I like so much about it, unfortunately, so I just suggest very strongly that you go watch it. SO GOOD.

I've recommended Big Eden, which is a wonderful movie in so many ways, before, and I've thought about making a vid for it -- to be able to more effectively pimp the film -- but never managed to find the right song.

Lucky for me (and you!) [ profile] gwyn_r has made an incredibly gorgeous Big Eden vid, and you should go download it right now, watch it, and then make sure to leave feedback for her, because it is much deserved. Words Fail You (song by Kris Delmhorst.)

Fans of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis might like this crossover vid, it's all angsty and yummy.
Wake Up - Song by The Living End, vid by [ profile] obfreak. Wmv format. If you download and watch it, please be nice and leave FB for the vidder! :-)

For the Beckett/McKay fan, there's [ profile] obfreak's vid to Rob Thomas' Ever the Same.

Another Atlantis ensemble vid is Bad Day by [ profile] rithmah - Song by Daniel Powter and well known by fans of this season's American Idol.

I still haven't seen the movie.

Thanks to [ profile] cerisaye for pointing this out.

Whoa-whee, many thanks to [ profile] estepheia for pointing out this Firefly vid.

This is just... gorgeously done, incredible use of footage, powerful, wow. Don't miss it.

I've been spending a lot of time watching [ profile] butterfly's Dead Zone vid to Dave and Tracy's "Tanglewood Tree." It's beautiful and it focuses on one of the two things about DZ that I love -- the very fucked up threesome that is Johnny/Sarah/Walt. (The other thing is the psychic ability.) I haven't seen many episodes (many half a dozen) but I'm familiar with the original source material and the film, so I feel like I know the show. Anyway, the thing where Johnny and Walt are both in love with Sarah, and Sarah is in love with both Johnny and Walt, and the two men, instead of hating each other, love each other. And all three of them create a relationship between them that's so unconventional and different that I'm very, very drawn to it. Plus the fact that all three of the actors are very beautiful to me doesn't hurt.

Spoilers for Firefly/Serenity behind the cut!!! Do Not Click if you are unspoiled!!! )

Two songs, two fandoms, two vidders, two vids... one song.

If I Wrote You (Dar Williams) - Firefly vid, Inara/Mal, by [ profile] butterfly

If I Wrote You (Dar Williams) - Atlantis, by [ profile] lierdumoa

Both highly recommended.

Oh wow, how much do I love this vid? It's just adorable and funny. See it!

McShep Sheppard's not gay. Really.

Vid pimp!

Y'all know I'm a big ole pimpin' whore (and yeah, so I had an unheard-of two glasses of wine with dinner and am feelin' fine, but that's neither here nor there) but you have to listen when I say this particular pimp is an extreme one. This isn't just good, it's spectacular, and you'd be worse off for having missed it. So don't.

[ profile] mogigraphia and [ profile] wolfling's new vid collaboration, a Giles vid (with Buffy and Willow playing major supporting roles) to Scissor Sisters' "Return to Oz."

Step 1 -- Download it here.

Step 2 -- Please, please send feedback. Vids don't get anywhere near the fb that fic does, and I know the vidders would appreciate it a great deal.

Okay, clearly I have vids on the brain at the moment, so I thought I'd recommend some more for those of you who are interested.

Writing Notes (Song by Jen Trynin. I really want a copy of this song. If anyone has one, let me know?) by Here's Luck. Willow/Tara, really wonderful quality, beautiful song choice. Excellent. Lots of other vids available on this page, too -- the Buffy/Spike one to Dave Matthew's "The Space Between" is really good. "Come on" (Buffy/Faith) is awesome.

The Burn (Matchbox 20) by Astarte. (I recommended one of her other vids the last time I did a Jossverse vid recs post.) This one's Wes (Wes/Lilah) and really good. I think there are space and bandwidth issues because I know Astarte's done a lot of equally great vids that don't seem to be available currently, including two Wes/Angel vids (Kryptonite and Nothing Else Matters) and a Connor vid (Numb.)

Anticipate (Ani diFranco) by lcsbanana. Connor. Very effective song choice. Sharp and painful.

It's the End of the World as We Know It (REM) by Luminosity. BtVS ensemble. Frenetic and eye-blinking. I also highly recommend her "Putting Out Fire" (Bowie) vid on the same page.

Strange Disease (Prozzak) by the crazygrrl. Buffy/Angel/Angelus. Very clever and funny.

Sick Cycle Carousel (Lifehouse) by Mistiec. Wes/Faith. Very good song, dark vid.

Sleepwalker (The Wallflowers) by Wendy. Xander. Xander's life, his relationship with Buffy, etc. Very, very cool vid.

Changes (Heroes by Chad Kroeger/Nickelback) by Maria. Giles, Wesley, changes. There are a lot of other vids on this page.

It's Tough to Have a Crush (OK Go) by Linzee. Spike/Xander. Short and sweet.

Dangerous (Depeche Mode) by Blondie. Spike/Angel. Pretty, sexy boys.

Fata Obstant (Last of the Mohicans soundtrack) by Myrtle and Eunice. Buffy/Angel(us). Really unique and very cool. Also, on this page are some other vids, including a Requiem to Doyle to Lyle Lovett's "Flyin' Shoes."

In the Shadows (The Rasmus) by Grey Council. Giles. This is the same vidder who made the ASH vid I was recc'ing recently.

Love (The Rose by Bette Midler) by Morgaine. BtVS ensemble. Very bittersweet.

Schism (Tool) by Vyra. Spike and his multiple personalities.

I also highly recommend any of Laura Shapiro's vids -- you have to go here and follow the instructions about emailing her so that you can get the password to download them, but it's well worth the effort. "Some Fantastic" (Xander, song by Barenaked Ladies,) "Tell Me" (Faith, Buffy, song by Billie Myers,) and "Transparent" (Willow, song by Polychrome) are my favorites.

I am a sad, sad individual. Bought a pair of boots at the Salvation Army store today pretty much solely because the company that made them is called "Wesley and Co."

Vid Recs -- (Not so much of the Jossverse)

Shalott's vids. I strongly recommend "Uninvited," which is a Silence of the Lambs vid and really amazing, and "Behind Blue Eyes" (Ethan/Giles.)

P.R. Zed's vid to Jann Arden's "I Would Die For You." It's an I Spy vid, and wow, had I totally forgotten what a damned slashy show that was until I watched the vid. Yum. Young Bill Cosby and Robert Culp. This is the only vid of hers I've seen, but there are a number of LotR vids on that page too.

My Lover's Gone. Stargate SG1 vid that [ profile] byrne turned me on to. Big file, great quality, by D2. Jack/Daniel. Mmm. I'm only a casual fan of the show but I think even people who'd seen a handful of episodes and could appreciate the J/D slashiness would like this vid.

Without You I'm Nothing. Smallville C/L vid by Sisabet. I don't watch the show at all and I liked the vid.

Oh, and I commented in one of [ profile] janedavitt's posts the other day about this ASH vid (quite a bit of Giles) to "Underneath Your Clothes." It's very yummy, you can find it on this page along with a bunch of other Giles vids.

Hrm. Guess that's all. Like what seems to be a quarter of my flist, I've been listening to Kim Richey's "A Place Called Home" rather obsessively. Now I've added Beth Orton's "It's Not the Spotlight" to the rotation. Yay for obsessive music listening.

Since [ profile] violetsmiles was good enough to point out [ profile] wolfling's newest vid, a Cordy study to Precious Illusions, I thought I'd post links to a few of my favorite vids.

Wolfling's Secure Yourself. Giles/Jenny, Tara/Willow, Xander, Faith. I also highly recommend her Going Under (Angel/Wes) and I'll Be (Angel/Doyle, Angel/Wes) vids.

Astarte's My Skin. This is Cordy/Angel, but from my POV focuses more on the friendship between them, on Angel's desire to save her. It's beautiful, and it makes me cry, and the song choice is so very appropriate.

Bonibaru's Hallelujah. Firefly. Mal. Out of Gas. Gorgeous.

Deslea's Mary. Drusilla. A truly incredible vid.

Maria's So Unsexy. Kate mostly. Very fitting.

Kaydalia's Unlock Your Heart. Late S7 BtVS, most of the cast.

Sisabet's Peacekeeper. One of the best vids out there. Gives me chills every time I watch it. And I'm sure everyone's on my friends list has seen Closer, which is an incredible example of vidding.

Okay, that's all for now.

So I watched this Firefly vid, Hallelujah by [ profile] bonibaru last night and I've been thinking about it all day. It's really beautiful. You should go watch it. Right now. Or, you know, as soon as possible.
