Yes, I'm still months behind, but I'm making progress toward getting caught up, LOL!

(I know, I'm ridiculously behind in posting these! Just go with it, LOL.)

I'm super into pork right now, I have no idea why, but I totally think you could replace the pork in this recipe with chicken or beef and it would be really similar.

Yes, I know, it's June and I'm just posting the March recipe now. That's sad. I could come up with plenty of reasonable excuses but really it's just laziness on my part. But here is a recipe for you!

Slow Cooker Thai Peanut Pork )

I willingly admit that this was a totally made-up recipe, loosely based on Alton Brown's homemade granola recipe (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] justhuman) and then tweaked to my heart's content. It's not the only granola I'm going to make, though, so if the end result is less than perfect it's my own fault. I promise not to blame Alton. Or JH.

Tropical Granola )

If you like granola, do you have a favorite way to eat it? I like it sprinkled on top of yogurt, or with a container of yogurt blobbed onto the top of it.

Homemade Kit Kat Bars!

Homemade kit kat bars, which may or may not bear much relation to an actual Kit Kat )

So this is my first post! Are there other things you would want to know, when reading a post like this? This is your chance to "beta" so throw your ideas at me!

It should have occurred to me that creating a meme/project in which I have to make decisions would be problematic for me!

I know what I don't want to make in January when the world is covered with snow and ice and my toes are constantly numb - I don't want to make gelato. (Sorry, JH! LOL. I will totally make it come summertime.) It definitely has to be something hot, or at least something that will be hot during some part of its creation. Help me decide!

I've been racking my brain trying to come up with some sort of meme that I could offer as a way of interacting with people on my f-list. Solo writing is pretty much not happening these days, so ficlets are out, and I wasn't able to find a replacement idea until a few weeks ago. I've been playing around with the idea ever since, and I think I've figured out how it's going to work now, though I reserve the right to make changes as I go along.

I am going to offer up a complete cooking post, with photographs, each month for the year 2011.

The rules for participating -

1. Anyone reading this post can suggest ONE recipe. It can be something you've made in the past, something I've posted about making, or something you've never made but have been curious about. I will choose from the suggested recipes (so knowing me and what I like to make/eat could be to your benefit if it helps you make your decision!)

2. There are a few foods that Mr WG and I really hate or don't want to eat. They include (but are not necessarily limited to): lima beans, cauliflower, less common parts of animals such as sweetbreads, noses, feet, and organ meats, and highly pricey ingredients like lobster, caviar, and truffles. I'm less likely to choose to make things that are truly laden with dairy products or that require specific kitchen equipment I don't possess.

3. If you suggest a recipe that I would not consider making, regardless of the reason(s) why, I will let you know and you'll have the option of suggesting a different recipe.

ETA - Kitchen equipment we have - slow cooker/crock pot, stand mixer, food processor, stick blender, springform pan, most other pans needed for baking!

I'm getting kind of excited about this as an idea, and I would love it if you all would help me decide what to make, so lay it on me! What recipes should I try in 2011?
